Pair of Lion of Lucerne Bronze Clad Bookends, early 20th c., by Jennings Brothers, each signed on the back JB 1570, styled after the Lions of Lucerne Swiss Guards Memorial designed in 1821, commemorating the courage of the Swiss Guards in battle. On the base of each are the Latin words which translate "To the Loyalty and Bravery of the Swiss," H.- 5 1/8 in., W.- 7 1/2 in., D.- 3 1/4 in.
