Rare Fine American Swell-Front Cherry Chest, Circle of Nathan Lumbard, Central Massachusetts, c. 1805-1815,

the string inlaid serpentine top with unique quarter round back edge, over four swell-front shaped cock beaded graduated drawers, flanked by swelled quarter-column stiles, sitting on extended spurred French feet,

  • Condition: Structurally sound, refreshed aged rich mellow polished finish, a few small darkened areas, quarter round on back edge is later, small nicks and chips to edge of top, the top with a dew surface marks, scratches, hardware appears to be original, the feet with a few chips, nicks and marks, possible later blocking and supports to feet, overall chips, nicks, marks, abrasions, indentations and imperfections consistent with age and use, minor looseness to back boards, extremely rare offering.
