Sevres Porcelain Portrait Cup of Madame Des Houlieres, early 19th c., with gilt decoration and ram''s head handle, on a pink ground, with a matching gilt decorated saucer, both marked "M. Imp le de Sevres," the first imperial Sevres mark, used by Napoleon from 1804-1809, Cup H.- 3 3/8 in., W.- 3 7/8 in., D.- 3 1/16 in. Note: Antoinette Des Houlieres (1638-1694) was a French poet in Paris and was maitre d''hotel to Queens Marie de Medici and Anne of Austria.


  • Condition: Condition consistent with age and use. Scratches are present to the gilt on both saucer and cup. There is very minor loss of gilt to saucer's rim. There is a possible repair to handle of cup. Slight firing flaws to bottom rim of the cup. Wear to paint on name under portrait. Minute firing flaw to the left of the portrait. A charming set.
